Two Detroit cop cars hit by suspected drunk drivers

At two different scenes Thursday night and Friday morning, two different drivers were hit by suspected drunk drivers.

The first accident happened around 9 p.m., two officers were headed north on Schoenherr near Eastwood when the man hit the back corner of their cruiser.

The man was drving a 2005 Dodge Magnum west on Eastwood when he ran through a stop sign. He hit the car in the rear quarter panel passenger side and rear door.

One officer said he had shortness of breath and leg pain. The other had neck and back pain. Both were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

The driver of the car, a 31-year-old man, was arrested.

Around 2:45 Friday morning, police had a car pulled over near Joy and Longacre. That's when a suspected drunk woman rear-ended the parked car.

One officer was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure but has been released.

The woman was arrested and is suspected of driving under the influence.
