Two new women's boutiques to open in The Fisher this fall

A pair of new women's fashion stores are opening this fall in the historic Fisher Building.

Retail fashion entrepreneur Rachel Lutz is behind both of the stores. You may already recognize her name. She's behind the widly popular Peacock Room which opened in 2011 and Frida, which opened in 2014 inside the Park Shelton Hotel.

One of her new stores is called Yama and will cater to the modern woman, and the pieces will reportedly have architectual, edgy influence. Like Peacock Room and Frida, Yama will cater to women sized 0 - 26 at all price points.

In addition to Yama, she's opening a second, vastly-expanded flagship store of The Peacock Room. This location will also have a vintage-inspired bridal boutique with unique designs.

Lutz says she was driven to expand because of her loyal customers and belief in the strength of Detroit's retail market, given all the rapid development.

"I really want to take the traffic in Midtown, which is wonderful, and push it out towards the neighorhoods. So New Center was really the new thing for me, and I think it's really the new thing for the greater downtown area," Lutz says.

Yama will open in September and the new Peacock Room will open in October.
