US Coast Guard finds 3 missing boaters alive on Lake Erie

The U.S. Coast Guard says three men who left to go fishing from near the Michigan-Ohio border and didn't return as expected have been found alive.

The Coast Guard says they were found about 9 a.m. Monday near the Michigan community of Luna Pier.

The search began early Monday near Lost Peninsula Marina, which is located in Monroe County's Erie Township in Michigan. The search included Maumee Bay.

The men were being transported to shore. The Coast Guard says they're reported to be cold and wet.

The Coast Guard says they were told that the three went fishing on Sunday afternoon and were in contact with family via cellphone on Sunday evening, but didn't return home as expected.

Local police and fire crews were among those involved in the search.
