A 2-mile stretch of highway of I-94 was closed Saturday for hours as Michigan State Police investigated a crash that killed 2 people.
The scene stretched from the westbound lanes of I-94 from the Oakwood exit to the M-39 exit, the debris scattered across all west bound lanes.
Still pinned underneath a black SUV was one of two motorcycles involved, the other motorcycle lay just off the interstate.
The crash happened near the Fairlane green shopping center Sunday a little before 2 p.m.
In fact Fox 2 spoke with one person who on his way to shop at Meijer who says he heard the crash checked it out for himself. "This is the worst, I've seen motorcycle accidents but not as bad as this," the driver said.
MSP say a semi-truck, a SUV and 2 motorcycles where involved in the accident.
Witnesses report the SUV crossed the median from the eastbound lanes into the westbound lanes and struck the semi before crashing into the motorcycles.
Police say alcohol and drugs may be a factor in the crash.
The identities of the two victims have not been released yet.
