Warren home invasion suspect on the loose after police pursuit, crash

WARREN, Mich. (FOX 2) - Police are looking for a home invasion suspect in Warren after a police pursuit and a crash early Wednesday morning, which sent three people to the hospital. An innocent bystander was critically injured. 

Warren police came upon a car crash Tuesday around 11:30 p.m. on Hoover along the Warren-Detroit border. A black SUV was involved, and police realized it was the vehicle they were pursuing just moments earlier after an attempted break-in. Warren police say the pursuit was terminated before the crash happened.

"I think the officers made the right decision, when it started to be a very high speed chase, they terminated; they backed off and they used good judgement as far as speculating where the vehicle could've gone and that's actually how they came upon the scene of the crash," Warren police commissioner Bill Dwyer said. 

Shortly after arriving at the scene, officers realized the black SUV was on fire and two people were still inside. They were able to use a small fire extinguished to put out the flames. Police believe the suspect was able to get out of the wrecked car and escape the scene. 

Police say another car was involved in the crash, which hit an electrical pole. A woman in that vehicle was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Two people inside the black SUV are said to be in stable condition. 

Police are still looking for the suspect at this time. 

Hoover was shut down for several hours overnight. Electrical crews were also on scene as wires were downed and stoplights were out after the car hit the eletrical pole. Hoover reopened just after 6 a.m.

Police haven't given a description of the suspect they're looking for, or given any other details about the possible home invasion.
