WDIV Channel 4 reporter Lauren Podell resigns after alleged racial slur

A local TV reporter has resigned after a controversy involving a racial slur.

WDIV Channel Four confirms that Lauren Podell no longer works for the station. Podell allegedly used the n-word in front of a coworker.

The incident apparently happened back in March but only recently came to light. Detroit activists Rev. W.J. Rideout and Sam Riddle demanded the station take action and called for Podell, 31, to be fired.

Although she resigned Wednesday, Riddle and Rideout say they'll go ahead with a planned protest at WDIV Thursday, citing a lack of transparency by the station.
