Jackknifed semi closes 696 at Van Dyke in Warren

An accident involving a jackknifed semi truck snarled traffic for most of the morning Tuesday along Interstate 696 in Warren.

The westbound lanes of the highway were closed as crews work to clear the accident at Van Dyke, which happened around 9:15 Tuesday morning. The eastbound lanes were also affected and were reduced to just one lane passing through on the right.

All lanes were moving again by early afternoon.

MSP says a semi truck breached the median barrier when the driver tried to slow down to avoid a broken down car on the left shoulder.

MSP says the semi truck driver is fine, but got a minor injury.
