Woman arrested after man, dog found beaten with metal rod

- A woman was arrested after Milford police believe she beat a man and a pet dog with a metal rod.

Milford police say the woman called 911 Monday night after it happened. Police came to the home in the 1300 block of Nortoon in Milford, which is near the intersection of Burns Road and Commerce Street, and found the woman outside in the street.

Authorities went inside and say a man in his 60s was found with significant injuries to his head and torso, and that a dog was found with serious head injuries.

The man was taken to the hospital and is on life support in serious condition. The dog was taken to a local veterinary clinic.

Police say the woman, in her 50s, lived in the home with the man and the dog.

Police anticipate that she will be charged with attempted murder and animal cruelty.
