Woman bank robber sheds clothes while fleeing

DETROIT (WJBK) - Police are looking for a robber who threatened to blow up the bank unless the teller handed over the cash.

Part of the woman's clever getaway was caught on camera as she switched her clothing behind some stores.

At the top left of the security camera video you can see a woman running toward the back parking lot of this laundromat. It turns out she had just robbed a bank.

Police say on Dec. 29 she entered the Comerica Bank on Michigan Avenue on Detroit's southwest side. She claimed she was armed with a bomb and demanded money.

She grabbed the loot and took off running.

It appears this woman had a plan in an attempt to elude authorities; she ran to the back corner of the laundromat and peeled off a layer of clothes.

First her hoodie and then her pants with no idea surveillance cameras recorded her entire switcheroo. She then takes off running toward the I-94 service drive.

Police are now looking for the suspect described as a white female approximately 40-years old and 5 feet 2 inches and 120 pounds.

Alfonso Ramos who works at the Cass Bar across the street, happened to be getting off the bus at the time.

"Right away when I saw the police cars there, I knew something happened," he said.

She should get a job," said Sue Salaman who owns Papa's Pizza across the street. "It's not ok to scare people like that."
