Neighbor in custody after shooting in southwest Detroit

A woman believed to be involved with an early-morning shooting in Detroit is now in police custody.

Detroit police say a 35-year-old man was shot Friday morning by his neighbor in the 7000 block of Cahalan Street, which is near Waterman Street and Vernor Highway.

Police say the man and his girlfriend were having an argument, and the woman left and went to the neighbor's house. The boyfriend followed her, and police say he threw a brick at the house and went back home.

"His girlfriend was running form him; he threatened to kill her so she ran to my daughter Tanya's house to hide out, and that's when he did all this," says Theresa Lehman.

Police say sometime after that, the man was shot by the neighbor. Police then believed she barricaded herself inside her home with a weapon, but it turns out she had left the area.

The man was reportedly shot twice in the leg, but police haven't given any word on his condition as of now.
