WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) - A woman found dead inside her Warren home, witnesses watched as police arrested the suspect at the scene.
But family members say there are more questions than answers tonight.
Warren police could be seen in and out of a house in the 23000 block of Columbus for hours on Wednesday. One neighbor says as she was walking her dog she saw a man from the house placed into custody.
"I saw them take a guy out in handcuffs," said Melody Peterson. "Next thing I know, there's Eastpointe, Detroit, Warren police, paramedics, going in with guns out. They were everywhere, it was serious."
FOX 2 is told this all stems from a death investigation, a mother of a 2-year-old little girl.
Her husband was the one neighbors saw being led away in handcuffs.
"He was already arrested and taken into custody," said the victim's uncle, David Wiggin.
FOX 2 is told the couple that lived there had only been there a couple days or less than a week according to neighbors.
The uncle said the address was so new; he didn't even have his niece's address which delayed him in getting there. By the time he got there, he says there was nothing that could be done to save her life.
"We got over here, we sat here for hours, they would not tell us anything," Wiggin said.
The only thing police are saying is this is an active investigation.
The victim's uncle says there wasn't a shooting or stabbing and her cause of death remains a mystery to the family at this point.
As for the victim's 2-year-old child, we are told she is safe and staying with family at the moment.
