Woman found murdered in home in Hazel Park

A neighborhood in Hazel Park is stunned after a woman there was found murdered.

Police knew the home where she was found well, after having been called there recently for domestic issues. Neighbors say they knew something like this would eventually happen there.

"I just thought they were fighting, it didn't really click until I saw the forensic lab pull up that something bad had happened," said neighbor Amanda Weiss. Weiss and everyone else on this block in Hazel Park would soon learn the 24-year-old woman who lived there was murdered.

"I felt so horrible because she was so young," Weiss said.

Investigators aren't going public with many details about what happened inside the home, a duplex on Elza Street. They found the woman dead inside around 7 a.m. Thursday. They only said that she was not shot.

"It was always chaos over there," Weiss said.

Police don't have anyone in custody as of Thursday night. Weiss says she saw the young woman fighting with a man she lived with, constantly.

"We could hear it and we would look out the window and my friends would be like, 'Are they doing it again?'" said Brooklyn Weiss, Amanda's daughter. "And we would look outside and they would be yelling at each other and, the sad part is, usually one of them would be holding the baby." It's unclear who the child belongs to.

As of late Friday morning, police say they have a person of interest in custody on related charges.
