Woman jogging along Dequindre Cut wards off attacker

Detroit police are asking for the public's help identifying a man they say sexually assaulted a female jogger in the area of the Dequindre Cut and Gratiot Avenue last week.

Police say the attack happened on Wednesday, September 26 around 10:30 a.m. The 44-year-old woman was jogging when a stranger ran up behind her, circled her and grabbed her buttocks.

Police say the woman had a knife and swung it at the suspect to get him to stop. She was not physically harmed.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his upper 20s. They say he is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs around 150 lbs. He was clean shaven and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and yellow gym shoes.
