Woman killed after being hit by car in Royal Oak Twp

ROYAL OAK TWP., Mich. (WJBK) - Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident on the Royal Oak Township and Detroit border.

A woman was killed after being hit at Wyoming and Eight Mile sometime before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say they talked to a 78-year-old woman after the accident who was driving a black Jeep Liberty. Police say she said she was driving eastbound on Eight Mile when all of a sudden a woman walked into the path of oncoming traffic. The driver told police she didn't see the woman until it was too late.

Michigan State Police and Detroit police are investigating. The crash was originally reported as a hit-and-run. The victim's identity has not been released.
