Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver after a mother was killed Monday night on Detroit's west side.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ladon Grice was reaching into a parked car to grab something when she as hit by a speeding Chevy Impala.

It happened just before 11 p.m. in the seven thousand block of Greenview Avenue, which is near the intersection of Tireman Avenue and Southfield Road.

Police say the driver of the Impala stopped to check out the situation before driving off. Witnesses say the drive came back, though, and cussed them out asking why the woman was even in the street before he took off again.

Police say the Impala's license place is DDY1928 and was being driven by a black man possibly in his 30s.

Grice has a young son whose father also passed away. Family and friends say they are holding a vigil Tuesday night for her. An online donation account to help her son has been set up on GoFundMe. CLICK HERE to go to the site.
