Woman killed on bicycle in hit and run on Grand River

A woman is hit by a car while riding her bicycle on Detroit's west side and the driver took off leaving her to die in the street.

The 47-year-old woman was riding her bicycle at Grand River and Lothrop when she was hit by a car, and killed. People living here, are surprised that driver drove away.

Detroiters are shaking their heads at yet another hit and run.

"You're not driving by yourself,  drive for others too when you go down the street.," said Alan Roscoe, who lives nearby.  "Look around you."

Police say the woman was crossing Grand River near Lothrop at about 9 p.m. Monday.

Witnesses to this horrific crash who didn't want go on camera showed FOX 2 the blood stains on Grand River where the woman was hit and then dragged several yards.

And now police are asking for you to help them identify the driver. The only information they have at this time is that he or she was driving a silver Chrysler vehicle then fled heading westbound on Grand River.

"In this neighborhood a number of crimes have been going on recently," said Roxzane Davis-Zackery who lives nearby. "That's just one of the many

Zackery is a long time resident of the area and says many times, crime here, goes unsolved.

"This corner alone, so many people of died I actually got robbed a couple years ago at this store," she said.
