Woman robbed outside gas station while making Christmas donation

Over the last several months, Yasmine Hassan says she has dedicated much of her free time to raising money for Boys Hope Girls Hope of Detroit.

The organization helps academically capable and motivated children meet their full potential.

"They are amazing the light they have in their heart is impeccable, they have something so resilient about them," she said.

On Tuesday she went to meet the Director at a Detroit gas station on Greenfield to hand over the checks. Just as she hopped in her car, Yasmine says someone smashed her windows and broke into hers.

"They took my purse, they took my laptop, they took my ID, my wallet," she said.

Yasmine called Detroit police and then she realized the suspects had already started using her debit card. These are images taken at the Family Dollar at Seven Mile and Schaefer.

"I am disappointed because these people went to Family Dollar," she said. "He went shopping, he filled up a cart to buy Christmas gifts for his kids. If he would have said he needed money for his kids, I would have helped him get it. I didn't expect this to happen."

But it didn't end there - the suspects used her card at the BP gas station and then Burger King. Yasmine says she was so upset, she followed them.

"I wanted my laptop back," she said. "And as soon as I got there I realized that was a stupid idea. I really wanted my laptop back but I was afraid to approach them."

Yasmine eventually gave up and filed a police report with the 12th precinct. She says she's relieved while all of this was going on she was still able to safely hand over the checks to the Boys Hope Girls Hope organization - which will now bring Christmas to 60 deserving kids.

Yasmine just wants the guys caught - and at the very least her work laptop back.

"I am distraught and disappointed," she said. "I feel violated more than anything, I feel violated."

If you recognize the two suspects, contact police.
