Woman killed in hit and run in front of motel, boyfriend arrested

A woman's body found in the road in Harrison Township - and her boyfriend under arrest.

There is a mix of long-term and short term residents that stay at Ruth's Motel on Jefferson near Shook.

A resident there says there is rarely a quiet night, saying that was the case Tuesday night - the last time he saw Daniel Labellarte, a 33-year-old from Warren, alive.

She was killed in a fatal hit and run that night.

"I happen to peek out the door and she was sitting over here on the yard on the grass," said the man, who gave his name as Dave. "And the manager, Mike, came out of room 11 and yelled at her and chased her off. She walked across the street and that was the last time I saw her."

According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office she was staying at the motel with her boyfriend.

Sometime in the early morning hours she was hit and killed while crossing the street.  SkyFox flew over the scene before the sun came up showing how dark the area can be at times. It is still unclear when she was struck and killed.

Investigators were notified of a body in the road around 5:15 Wednesday morning after someone driving by saw the body and called 911.

Hours after the discovery investigators remained on the scene speaking with the owners of the motel and trying to get a better idea of what happened.

Before noon the sheriff's office gave word that the boyfriend of the victim was arrested and is being held in jail. Investigators plan to turn over the findings of this case to the prosecutor in the morning.

FOX 2 did reach out to the family of the victim but they had no comment at this time.
