A woman was rushed to the hospital late Monday night after she was shot while sitting on her living room couch.
The 38-year-old victim was shot three times, twice in the arm and once in the chest.
The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. in the 18000 block of Wisconsin, which is near Curtis Street and Wyoming Avenue.
The woman told police she was just sitting there and all of a sudden heard shots through her window, and then felt pain.
The woman's cousin, keeping the woman's identity hidden for her safety, tells Fox 2 when she realized she'd been hit she called 911, using a towel as a tourniquet.
"She came out with a bandage on her arm bleeding, they put her on the stretcher," witness Joe Lake said.
Police don't have any information on the suspect to release at this time. Police also haven't said yet why the shooting may have happened.
“It's gotta be personal, but I really don't know why,” Lake said.
The woman's cousin says right now she is recovering in the ICU at a local hospital after undergoing surgery, and she's expected to be okay.
Her family is asking for anyone who may know who nearly killed their loved one to call police. Everyone just thankful they aren't planning her funeral
