Woman wakes to sexual assault in Ann Arbor

Students living on the campus of the University of Michigan are on edge after a sexual assault Wednesday morning.

Police say a man broke into a woman's Church Street residence, with the victim waking up to the man sexually assaulting her.

It happened at about 3 a.m. this morning. The victim awoke to the man on top of her. The suspect fled from the house, it is unknown what direction.

Students like Jake Allain who live just down the street from where the assault took place says students need to lock their doors. Especially at this time when students are moving out.

"Locking your doors is important, even if you are out just a couple hours," he said. "Especially at night, you've always got to be safe."

Ann Arbor police is not commenting on this case as of yet, but working to keep students informed. If anyone has information, contact them at (734) 794-6920.
