Woman's naked body found in Detroit street

Police are investigating after the body of a woman was found on Detroit's east side. Her body was found at Malcolm and Hern streets, which is in between Chandler Park and Interstate 94.

Detroit police have not identified the woman, who they say was found naked. They say she is a white woman, possibly in her 20s. Police have not released a cause of death, though Capt. Mark Bliss says it appears the body had been dragged and that she may have been hit by a car.

"It looks like the body is a white female, possibly 20s. It looks like it's possible that she could've been hit by a car," Bliss aid.

A neighbor found the body Tuesday morning shortly before 8 a.m. on Malcolm near Hern Street. The streets and some nearby clothing were stained with blood but Detroit are unsure if it belonged to her or someone else.

Neighbors said they have a lot of activity in that area.

"We have a lot of problems with women walking the streets at night, a lot of drug activity," says Ida Fulks. She lives where the body was found. "It's terrible. Look around. Just look around. We never know what's going to pop up next over here."

Police say some clothes were found nearby, and are investigating to see if they are the victim's.

The manner and cause of the woman's death remains a mystery. Detroit Police are trying to identify who she is and are looking into open missing persons cases.

Sources say the woman has long, reddish-brown hair and a large tattoo on the small of her back. The same source said she had trauma to her head and body with a possible tire track across her body along with severe road rash, as if she had been thrown from a vehicle or possibly run over.

The horrifying death is still being investigated anyone who may be able identify her is asked to call Detroit Police.
