Young married couple found dead inside Dundee home

Officials in Monroe County are investigating after a man and a woman were found dead inside their home early Wednesday morning in the Village of Dundee.

The married couple lived in the 100 block of Riley Street, which is near Main Street and Tecumseh Street.

Police say the couple was found lying on their floor in the living room. Police say they apparently collapsed and died as they were about to eat dinner.

Police are not releasing details about their death at this time, but say their home was secured. Investigators weren't immediately sure what happened and toxicology tests are expected as part of the autopsy process to determine cause of death.

Police say they found a pound of marijuana on the kitchen table near the bodies.

Police were called to the scene by a neighbor, who initially thought they had fallen asleep.

Officials say the man and the woman are both in their 20s. Dundee police Chief Todd Opperman told the Monroe News Child Protective Services recently removed two young children from the home.

Dundee is about 60 miles southwest of Detroit.
