Donna Scrivo, 61, was found guilty of first degree murder including other charges of disinternment and mutilation of a body and removing a body without the medical examiner's permission in Macomb County court shortly before 5 p.m. Monday before Judge Richard Caretti.
Scrivo stood quietly during the reading of the verdict looking straight ahead, closing her eyes briefly.
She had been animated when she took the stand Monday, saying how she wished she could have ID-ed her son's body to be with him one last time but, instead, was taken into police custody. Jurors took the case to deliberate later that afternoon.
Prosecutors have said Scrivo filed a missing person's report in January 2014, claiming her son had left his St. Clair Shores home and failed to return.
Bags containing his body parts were found a few days later in St. Clair County, northeast of Detroit. An electric saw was in one of the bags.
Prosecutors say she killed her 32-year-old son, Ramsay, cut up his body and scattered the bags of his remains.
She says an unidentified man entered their house and killed Ramsay.
