Teens Attempt to Carjack 66 year old Man

Detroit Police are seeking the public’s help as they try to identify two teenagers who attempted to carjack a man at a gas station.

It happened Friday night at the Speedy gas station at Wyoming and Joy Road. Police say the 66 year old victim was pumping gas, when the two teenagers approached his and asked for the time. When the man looked at his watch, one of the teenagers pulled out a revolver and demanded his keys. However the teenagers were unable to drive off, apparently unaware of how to operate the push start in the car. Instead, they ran away.

Prior to the attempted carjacking, Detroit Police say the teens asked the gas station clerk if they could stay inside, but he told them no. Instead, they hung around a nearby bus station until they spotted the victim.

Surveillance images taken from inside the gas station show the teenagers clearly. Detroit Police believe the teenager in the grey hoodie is between 18 and 19 years old. The one in the black hoodie is believed to be around 15 or 16 years old.
