Man sentenced to life in prison after Teresa DeKeyzer's death

A Detroit-area man who pleaded no contest to killing his girlfriend and stuffing the body in a barrel expressed regret before he was sentenced to life in prison.

There was no suspense Tuesday about Scott Wobbe's no-parole sentence, which was mandatory.

Theresa DeKeyzer's body was found last September in a drum at a storage site in Plymouth Township. The 22-year-old lived about 30 miles away in Warren and hadn't been seen all summer.

DeKeyzer had filed a domestic violence complaint against Wobbe before she was killed.

Her mother and two sisters spoke in court before the sentence was ordered.

Wobbe will also pay $9,400 in restitution to the family.
