MDOT to start to replace bridge supports on I-75, I-94.

The Michigan Department of Transportation will start replacing the bridge supports on northbound and southbound I-75 under the eastbound I-94 ramp after routine bridge maintenance discovered deteriorated concrete on one of the supporting columns.

In March, 10 temporary bridge supports were put in place to stabilize the bridge and keep it open to traffic. Shoulder closures on I-75 were also put into place.

The eastbound I-94 ramp to northbound I-75 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday through June 12 for the demolition and rebuilding of the supporting pier holding up the ramp. This also requires lane closures on northbound and southbound I-75 under the I-94 ramp but will be limited to single or double-lane closures during off-peak hours.

TRAFFIC IMPACT:

Thursday:

*9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Northbound I-75 will have single and double-lane closures to restripe the freeway for a lane shift.

*2-6 p.m.
Southbound I-75 will have single and double-lane closures to restripe the freeway for a lane shift.

Friday:

*7 p.m.
Northbound and southbound I-75 will have one lane closed until Saturday evening.

*8 p.m.
The eastbound I-94 ramp to northbound I-75 will be closed for pier demolition, reconstruction, and curing of the supporting pier until June 12. The posted detour is eastbound I-94 to southbound M-10 (Lodge Freeway), then northbound I-75.
