Medical Examiner rules homicide as manner of death for children found in freezer

A medical examiner has determined both children whose bodies were found in a freezer earlier this week died as a result of homicide.

The medical official determined the cause of death for Stoni Blair, 13, to be multiple blunt trauma, and the official cause of death for Stephen Berry, 9, to be multiple blunt trauma and thermal injuries.

Their mother, Mitchelle Blair, has been charged with child abuse and is being held on a $1 million bond. More charges are expected as the medical examiners continue their investigation.

Sources say Blair admitted to burning, starving, beating and suffocating them before putting them in a stand alone freezer.

A sheriff's bailiff discovered the bodies Tuesday morning at her town home in Detroit while conducting an eviction. Blair was not home at the time and was later apprehended.
