Melvindale man who had hidden child porn studio in house sentenced

A Melvindale man was convicted of two counts of criminal sexual conduct second degree for child pornography on Wednesday.

Charles Miller was sentenced to 20 to 30 years in prison as a habitual third offender. He is also required to register as a sexual offender and will be electronic monitoring.

Miller, 59, pleaded guilty in January to manufacturing and possessing child pornography. Police had discovered a hidden studio in his house on Harman Street in Melvindale in 2013.

Miller faces federal charges next month in U.S. District Court in Detroit where he could be sentenced to up to 50 years in prison.

His son, Arthur Miller, 31, of Romulus is also facing charges of possession of child pornography.

In various reports, the Harman Street house was outfitted with a surveillance system and closed-circuit cameras, sex toys, stuffed animals and restraints.

In court Wednesday, parents spoke about the trauma their children endured and still feel.
