Missing 16-month-old boy found safe, suspect in custody

Romulus Police say this morning they received a tip that a person matching the description of the suspect wanted in connection to the Amber Alert that was issued this morning across the entire state of Michigan was walking on Merriman Road in the area of Michigan avenue (Westland, mi.).

Responding officers located the male suspect who is approximately 22yrs, 6'0", 160, slim build, wearing a dark colored Adidas stripped outfit. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held at Romulus P.D. 

According to Romulus police, they were notified by Westland P.D. that they were out at 210 licorice street with the suspected vehicle and missing child.

A preliminary medical check of the child was conducted by health link personnel. The child was located inside the vehicle and appeared to be in good health.

Romulus police investigators along with the Southeastern Michigan Crimes Against Children Task Force (SEMCAC) are continuing the investigation. A warrant recommendation will be submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutors office in the coming days.

At this point investigators are trying to find out exactly why this crime occurred and who else may have been involved.
