Mom says 19-year-old killed over $2 at Detroit party, searching for answers

A mother is calling for justice after she says her 19-year-old son was gunned down over a mere $2.

Katina Anderson says her son, Terrance Washington, was at a party December 26 on Detroit's west side, near W. McNichols and Southfield roads when he was killed. She says he got into an argument with an older man over a game of dice.

"They were over there shooting dice. A $2 dice game," Anderson said. "He got mad (and) wanted to fight because he was losing. My son said 'let's fight' he said not gonna fight, I'm gonna shoot him and he shot him."

Anderson saidTerrance had dreams of graduating college and making it the music business. Instead, his life is over before it really began after he took a bullet in the leg and the torso.

Anderson says other people were at the party who witnessed the shooting, but no one has been arrested yet and no one is speaking up to say who the older man is. Without her son's killer in custody, Anderson is still wrestling with closure.

"There's no closure. No arrests, no closure. Then you feel like you want to handle it yourself and the violence never stops," Anderson said.

Terrance's family is preparing to say goodbye with a funeral service but is having a hard time paying for it all so they have created a GoFundMe account. Click here to donate and help.
