The story goes a little something like this.
Sam and Jess were 10 years old when they first met. The video features pictures of the couple from middle school dances to prom to their adult lives, all together. Sam said in the video that Jess had been dropping hints about getting engaged. He already had the message.
With his cousin, independent Philadelphia musician Matty Mac, he put together the biggest proposal surprise he could think of. He told Mac he wanted it to be in one his music videos but the singer didn't think he had the right song.
So he created one. According to FOX 29 in Philadelphia, he set out to create a song that would traverse the different stages of a serious relationship from beginning to end, while having a proposal at the end. Within 30 minutes he created a song titled, The Proposal, just for the couple.
Sam knew it was perfect and then they got to work on the video above. With the unknowing Jess agreeing to be in it, she invited family members to be extras for the video.
On May 22, the completed project was uploaded to YouTube. The now-engaged couple were in Philadelphia's LOVE Park, then a restaurant in New Jersey for the final scene. When he drops to his knees, the audio from the restaurant comes in. Mac sings along as he asks here the question.
She said yes.
Matty Mac's album, titled The Proposal, is available on Spotify and iTunes.
