2016 North American Car, Truck of the year announced

DETROIT (WJBK) - The 2016 North American Car and Truck of the year awards were handed out Monday morning, during the kick-off of the North American International Auto Show.

The Volvo XC90 was named the 2016 North American Truck of the Year. The Honda Civic was named 2016 North American Car of the Year.

The final three in each category were named before the winners were announced. 

The three finalists for the 2016 North American Truck of the Year were the Honda Pilot, the Nissan Titan XD and the Volvo XC 90. The three finalists for the 2016 North American Car of the Year were the Chevy Malibu, the Mazda MX-5 Miata and the Honda Civic.
