New Haven middle schoolers escape burning bus in Pennsylvania

About 40 8th graders and the their chaperones were fast to act after their bus stalled and then caught fire in Pennsylvania Wednesday.

The students from Endeavor Middle School in New Haven were on I76 in Pennsylvania and on their way to Gettysburg and the nation's capitol. That's when the bus driver noticed the charter bus was having issues with the gauges.

When the bus started to stall, the adults and students said they could smell smoke. The driver pulled over and got everyone off the bus just moments before it caught fire.

The bus was fully engulfed but all passengers were okay. But that wasn't the end of their journey.

They got on another bus to get going again. About ten miles down the road, that bus broke down as well with an apparent bad radiator.

Eventually, another bus picked them up and they students were able to get to Gettysburg and will see Washington D.C. on Thursday.
