New York woman comes home to find house bulldozed by husband

A Middletown, New York woman is left homeless and her husband in police custody after he tore their house down with a bulldozer. The problem is, she says she has no idea why he did it.

Diane Andryshak, who is the legal owner of the house, says she came home to an empty lot and still hasn't gotten any answers from her husband of nine years.

Police confirm 48-year-old James Rhein rented an excavator and knocked down the single family home without obtaining a permit. Andryshak says everything inside the house went down with it.

"We weren't fighting, we weren't arguing. I don't know what happened. I don't know anything," Andryshak said.

"I asked him just kidding around if he was going to knock down the house with a bulldozer, and he said, 'Yeah.' But I thought he was kidding," said a neighbor.

Rhein allegedly told investigators the Woodland Avenue house was in such bad shape that it couldn't be repaired. So, what did he do? He got rid of it! It just may not have been entirely legal.
