Outpouring of support for Motown musician whose house was auctioned off

A veteran Motown musician fears he's about to lose his family home.

But friends, fans and strangers showed their support at a benefit Thursday night.

The event was hosted by the Detroit jazz club Bert's Marketplace.

Kenny Brinkley was a member of the Motortown Revue Band and the Decoys. He is a musician who's played his saxophone all over the world.

Now Brinkley and his girlfriend are fighting to save the modest home his family has owned on Taylor Street for decades.

In a story reported by FOX 2, it was sold at auction without their knowledge.

The money raised tonight will help them try to buy it back.

The couple says they're humbled by the outpouring of support. Friday they plan to head to court to plead with a judge to let them stay in the home.
