Person of interest in killing of 81-year-old in custody

Police say parole absconder Matthew Brunn, 29, was arrested Saturday in Detroit.

Brunn was named a person of interest in the killing of 81-year-old Casey Wybenga Tuesday.

Brunn was at a known drug house around 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Detroit's east side when he was allegedly assaulted and ran away on foot. He ended up running away from the house and ended up at a Coney Island near the intersection of Gratiot and Cadillac. Restaurant employees became alarmed by how beaten Brunn was and called 911.

When officers arrived, Brunn admitted he was a parole absconder and was taken into custody.

While being reprimanded into custody, it was then revealed that he was one of the suspects in the death of Wybenga.

The Michigan Department of Corrections say that Brunn will be transferred to Kent County on Monday.
