PICTURES: Street flooded, frozen after water main breaks on Detroit's west side

With temperatures hovering around and below 0, it's already dangerous outside in Detroit. For some homeowners on Detroit's west side, the problem is compounded even more by a flooded and frozen street.

The frozen mess was discovered in a neighborhood just south of Seven Mile between Lahser and Evergreen Monday morning.

The water main opened up and started gushing. When the frigid air hit, it turned the street into a sheet of ice; freezing everything it touched, from cars to trash cans.

Some cars and trucks were able to work their way through the ice, leaving deep ruts in their wake. As of 11:00 A.M. Monday, there were not any crews in the area to fix the problem.

FOX 2 will check on the story throughout the day and will update this page with new information about the break.
