Police: Elderly man shoots at plumbers working on his home

A plumbing crew was in the middle of their job when they started dodging bullets.

We're told an elderly man fired several shots at the plumbers inside his home on Hubbell Avenue on Detroit's west side.

One of the plumbers says the homeowner must have forgotten he hired the crew to fix the basement, and that he may have thought they were strangers who broke in.

"We were running up the stairs and he was just shooting rounds off at us," says plumber Austin Molter. "So we exit the house and hide around our vans, and he comes out the door just firing rounds off. So, I just called 911 and, you know, the whole time I was just scared for my life."

All three crew members made it out of the home okay before they called police.

The plumber also says the homeowner had been drinking all day.

It's not clear at this time if the homeowner us under arrest.
