Police: Murder victim chased down and killed near Detroit gas station

In a morning shooting on Good Friday, police say a man was chased down by two armed men in broad daylight.

The violence shut down Woodward for several hours on Detroit's west side. Police had the area taped off near Melbourne street while they picked up shell casings and tried to figure out who killed the man. They say it wasn't one shooter.

"It appears there were 2 different shooters and two different guns," Assist. Police Chief Steve Dolunt said.

He said one suspect had a handgun while the other was carrying a longer one as they chased him down. Once they caught him, they took the life of the man in his mid-30s.

"He was shot multiple times throughout his body," Dolunt said.

We're told police are now taking a close look at surveillance video from businesses in the area in hopes of identifying the shooting suspects and perhaps understanding the motive.

"We heard there was a beef possibly with his girlfriend earlier. We also heard some unsavory characters moved into the area so we are gong to follow up on that. Rest assured we will try to find them and remove them from the area," Dolunt said.

The surveillance video and what it shows will likely play a huge role in the investigation. Police are looking for two shooters who drove off in a white Cadillac.
