Pontiac situation over, law enforcement say gunman left before they arrived

After more than six hours on the scene, officials in Pontiac say the man they believed to be barricaded inside a home was not inside.

Deputies were first called around 8:30 a.m. Monday to a report of a man barricaded with a gun. Initially, law enforcement said the man had his girlfriend and a child inside the home on Hazel Ave near Telegraph with him.

Later in the day, the girlfriend and the child left the home unharmed. At that point, law enforcement believed the man to still be inside the home.

Deputies said one shot was fired earlier in the day but neither hostage or any police officers were injured.

Neighbors were evacuated and SWAT vehicles were on the scene. They've rammed the windows and have used a loud speaker for several hours to get in contact with the man but say he has not responded.

The Oakland SWAT team and EMS are responding to the scene. Neighbors were transported to a safe location in the SWAT vehicles.
