A shooting in Pontiac leaves one man in critical condition. But he wasn't the only victim. The man's girlfriend and another man were also attacked. Police say they have the man responsible in custody.Joyce McCowan says traffic is the source of most of the commotion along this stretch of West Huron in Pontiac. Although early Saturday morning, the source was a mask man armed with a hand gun.
"I'm shocked. I'm shocked," McCowan said. "It's very scary. I will now be calling the police more often with every little thing I hear."
Investigators say the suspects went to the home in the 300 block and pistol whipped a man who allegedly owed him money. We're told the suspect also assaulted them victim's girlfriend squirted lighter fluid on her and threatened to set her on fire.
Sheriff Michael Bouchard with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said it was he "went went there with sinister intentions."
Police say a third person who also lived in the home tried to help but was shot in the neck while attempting to get the gun. The 34-year-old remains in critical condition at a nearby hospital. The other two victims have since been treated and released. As for the suspect, he ran from the scene but was arrested in Roseville later that day.
"Our detectives and fugitive team are pretty adept at following trails. I don't want to tell you exactly how we found him but we tracked him down and took him into custody. we also got the handgun," Bouchard said.
For McCowan, knowing the 23-year old suspect from Detroit is off the streets does bring some relief. Still, the fact that this happened just doors away makes securing even hers more important.
"See this wood here. I put this behind my door when I shut. I put it back here to lock it," McCowan said.
