A Detroit resident says she's dealing with a wet, smelly mess in front of her house and she wants the city to fix it.
"I kept calling saying we have a leak in front of the house and it's just backing up," said Maria Perez.
Perez says she has been dealing with a constant flow of water for a month.
"When I got out of the car I step right into the puddle everyday," she said. "The stench it's starting to come out and it's not even that hot yet. So when the heat comes up there will be mosquitoes and all that filth to deal with."
At first Perez thought the issue was caused by a fire hydrant so she called the city for help.
"First they told me they needed to replace the hydrant itself," said Perez. "It got replaced and it's leaking and water is backing up by my driveway. The drain is over there and that's an inconvenience."
That's when Perez decided something else had to be done.
"Frustrated, fed up, I said it's time for Problem Solvers to get in," she said.
The problem solvers reached out to city officials about this issue on Mandale Street. On Friday crews were on site working to resolve the issue.
City officials say that the Detroit Water and Sewage Department is committed to addressing running water issues as soon as they're made aware. Once the cause of the leak is determined, the repair will begin as soon as possible.
Perez looks forward to not having standing water in front of her property.
"This does matter. This is an issue not only for my property but for everyone's property," she said.
