Senior prom for the other seniors in Farmington Hills

Prom season is here for seniors of all kinds - both high school and senior citizens.

It was a crowded dance floor at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills. Senior citizens from Grand Court got their chance to take a turn on the dance floor. The 17 year olds made way for 71 year olds (and other ages, too) to do the hokey pokey and more at Senior Citizens Prom Saturday night.

Madelyn Stimetz was there with her 92-year-old mother, Josephine Krolicki, for the special event.

"She's having a lovely evening. She really enjoyed dressing up and feeling special and enjoying the prom," Stimetz said.  "I don't think they had proms when she was in high school because there was the war going on so this is probably her first prom."

The special event was to help seniors get a chance to be part of something special. Stella Woller with St. John Lutheran Church helped organize the entire event.

"I know a lot of time the seniors get ignored so I wanted to do something very special for them," Woller said.

The prom was originally scheduled to go from 5:00 to 7:00 but these party animals kept it going! It went well into the late evening hours before they called it a night.
