SMART bus driver arraigned after falling asleep at wheel

A SMART bus driver has admitted to falling asleep behind the wheel, causing a serious crash in West Bloomfield.

It happened last October on Maple Road between Middlebelt and Inkster.

Cameras on the bus show the bus driver slamming into multiple vehicles. Police say the crash scene was a half mile long. 

Two people were hurt. 

The driver, Leon Rasheed, was arraigned yesterday on a moving violation which carries up to 93 days in jail.
