Andy McIlvaine told Southwest employees last fall he was flying to Baltimore to propose to his girlfriend, Keley Mulfinger. That friendly conversation became much more.
"The next thing you know, I'm talking to these five Southwest employees," McIlvaine told the Baltimore Sun. Before he boarded his flight, one of the gate agents reportedly handed McIlvaine a $100 voucher to use toward honeymoon travel.
He said he thought he was going to get a drink ticket, not a $100 voucher!
"He said 'Have fun, good luck and go get your girl. Here at Southwest we're all about love.'" McIlvaine said.
McIlvaine said they did even more. On Wednesday, the airline flew in Mulfinger's mother and sister for a surprise shower at BWI. The airline says that more than 100 passengers, crew and airport staff greeted the couple at the gate with roses, champagne and personal congratulatory note from Southwest CEO Gary Kelly.
