The 24-year-old woman is expected to be formally charged tomorrow. FOX 2 is told, the suspect has three other children - all of them had been taken away by authorities - before this incident.
Amber Clark, a neighbor of the suspect, spoke to FOX 2.
"Honestly seeing what I've seen, it doesn't shock me if it's true," she said. "It more than breaks my heart as a mother."
Police say the suspect delivered the baby boy around Dec. 22 and he died two days later.
She allegedly kept the baby in a garage until Christmas day, then moved the body to a shed at her parent's home, in Eastpointe.
Somehow the child ended up in a recycling bin and, workers at a recycling center in Roseville, later found the baby's body wrapped in a black shirt.
Because she has not been charged yet, the woman's identity has not been released yet. Her arraignment was originally scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, but has now been rescheduled to Wednesday.
Workers found the body of the baby the night of Jan. 14 while sorting through trash at the ReCommunity recycling center on Groesbeck.
Police executed search warrants Monday evening after making the arrest, but would not say where they were searching.
Tips are still being sought in the investigation, and police say tips from the public lead police to the 24-year-old woman.
Roseville Chief James Berlin tells FOX 2 the funeral expenses for the baby are being donated by local companies.
Local businesses and community members are contributing a casket, headstone and cemetery plot. Burial is planned at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
