Suspected hit-and-run in Lincoln Park leaves woman injured

Left with a black eye, bumps, bruises and a broken bike after an alleged hit-and-run accident, Lincoln Park resident Renee Fletcher is lucky to have walked away with only minor injuries.

According to police records, the incident occurred April 28th. Fletcher says she was on her way to pick up a rescue animal with her boyfriend. The couple was crossing Outer Drive at Fort Street when she says she was hit.  What she did right after may be the most helpful piece of evidence for investigators, Renee pulls out her camera phone and hits record.

The video shows Renee's boyfriend pull her bike away and a confrontation ensues. Fletcher goes after the driver.  "I just saw red after that. You saw me. We got into a fight," said Fletcher.

As her phone recording continues you can see the driver speed away without waiting for police. Fletcher says Lincoln Park police took the report and so far there have been no updates.

Fletcher was able to walk away from the crash but says it's hard to ride a bike or even cross the street for that matter and not think about what happened here.

If you have any information regarding this please contact the Lincoln Park police.
