Three Michigan Marines killed in helicopter crash

Three Marines from Michigan were among the eleven service members killed when their helicopter crashed off the coast of Florida Tuesday.

30-year-old Trevor Blaylock of Lake Orion is presumed dead along with Staff Sergeant Andrew Seif from Holland and 27-year-old Marcus Bawol from Macomb County.

Barbara Schavon knew Marcus Bawol. She said she still can't believe  the tragic accident that took his life. She watched Bawol grow up in Warren and turn into a man who wanted to serve his country.

"He was going to be a lifer, it wasn't going to be do a short amount of time and get out," said Barbara Schavon.

Schavon said she gave Marcus haircuts and says he was a perfect child.

Schavon said "he always did everything right. He was a really sweet kid and was as sweet as can be to his mom."

Marcus met Erika Hipple, who would eventually become his fiance, when he was a student at Warren Mott High School. Those who know the family say they were all looking forward to the upcoming wedding.

Schavon remembers a conversation she had with Marcus' mother about the wedding set for later this year.

"She was so excited that they were getting married. I can't even imagine this now," said Schavon.

Warren's Mayor has ordered city flags flown at half-staff to honor  Bawol. Schavon says her thoughts and prayers are with his family.

"He was just a really awesome person and never caused any problems and if you needed to ask him for something, he'd help you," said Schavon.
