NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities want to talk to another person in connection with the truck attack in Lower Manhattan. The FBI released a poster seeking information about Mukhammadzoir Kadirov, 32, of Uzbekistan.
The wanted poster doesn’t say why investigators want to know more about the man.
Authorities charged Sayfullo Saipov, a New Jersey resident originally from Uzbekistan, with providing material support to a terrorist group and committing violence and destruction of motor vehicles. Police said he drove a rental truck almost a mile along a recreational path, killing eight pedestrians and cyclists.
The poster says he was born in Uzbekista - as was 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov, who was charged Wednesday with providing material support to a terrorist group and violence and destruction of motor vehicles. Investigators recovered a cellphone that had Islamic State group propaganda.
A court proceeding is scheduled in federal court. It’s unclear whether the man will appear. He was shot by police and hospitalized.
A family friend with whom the man stayed in Ohio has told The Cincinnati Enquirer he was “really calm” and worked hard.
Saipov’s lawyers haven’t returned a message seeking comment.
