New app pays for selfies

Millions of smartphone users already do it. Now, you could get some cash for your selfies.

Would you be willing to say cheese to earn a little cheddar? One-hundred million selfies are snapped every day. Kim Kardashion published 125,000 plus copies of a book stuffed with selfies. So why can't you make some cash with your own?

Kristen Holman and Michelle Smyth are co-founders of Chicago made app company 'Pay your Selfie.' They say the goal is for someone to get to $20, and you can cash out at $20, and you can start all over again.

Once you download the free app, you're asked to comlete selfie challenges for cash. My favorite lip color; 25 cents. Favorite pop; 20 cents. Favorite french fries; 50 cents. Favorite Empire character; $1. By taking twelve selfies in a matter of hours, I've earned almost $6.

They say they are looking at that information just to see what kinds of insights and consumer trends that they can see. Some of the selfies are sponsored by brands, and that's how the company can afford to pay you cash. Other selfies promote charity, and you can select to donate some of your earnings to that organization.

Once you hit that $20 mark, the company will send you a check in the mail. They do reserve the right to share your photo on their Facebook page and with advertisers.
